mazingira ya upweke
Mazingira haya yalimpa mtunzi wasiwasi na woga. Mara nyingi alikuwa katika hali ya kufikiria tu. Shairi ambalo linadhihurisha kuwa mazingira ya upweke katika gereza ka Kamiti yalimwathiri ni shairi la Nakukumbuka ambapo anasema na mpenzi wake. Anasema:
mie nawe mbali tungawa, nakukumbuka
lau ningekuwa na mbawa, ningaliruka
ni muhali hilo kuwa, nasikitika
Shairi hiki ni thibitisho kuwa mtunzi alikuwa na upweke kiasi cha kuanza kumkumbuka mpenzi wake.
mazingira ya mateso
Haya ni mazingira mapana sana katika Sauti ya Dhiki. Katika hali ya mateso, Mtunzi anatunga mashairi kama Nishishiyelo ni Lilo yaani aliloshikilia ndilo hilo na hatobadili nia. Hebu tuone ubeti mmoja katika uk 2:
kweli menifunga ndani, ya chumba nde sitoki
kutwa kucha ni chumbani, juwa kuota ni dhiki
na mlinzi mlangoni, yu papo kattu handoki
nilindwavyo bilkhali, ni kama simba marara
Hapa tunaona kuwa mtunzi anateswa sana Haruhusiwi hata kuota jua na hivyo anatunga mashairi ya masikitiko.

Ni bayana kuwa mtunzi alikuwa katika mazingira ya vitisho katika taifa lake na pia katika gereza ka Kamiti. Shairi lake moja la Semani wenye Kusema ni mfano bora wa shairi ambalo linaonyesha kuwa mtunzi alikuwa katika mazingira ya vitisho kwani hata wale ambai walikuwa naye, sasa hawasemi...ndipo anawaambia, waseme bila woga.
mazingira ya utabaka na mivutano ya kijamii
Mazingira haya ambayo ni mapana katika jamii pana yamemwathiri mtunzi. hebu tuangalie shairi kama Vuta N'kuvute ni shairi ambalo ni tokea la mazingira ya utabaka.
mazingira ya uongozi dhalimu, siasa duni
Hewaa, mtunzi anatunga mashairi ambayo yanaonyesha athari ya mazingira ya siasa duni. katika shairi kama Mamba, tunaona kuwa jazanda ya mamba ni jazanda ya viongozi ambao hawako tayari kung'oka mamlakani.Anasema kuwa yule mamba anadhani ataishi dahari, yaani miaka yote ....

jadili mazingira zaidi kwa kutoa shairi la kuthibitisha.

Abdilatif Abdalla (born 1946 in Mombasa) is a Kenyan writer and political activist. He was imprisoned for his support of the Kenya People's Union, and wrote the poems collected in Sauti ya Dhiki while in solitary confinement, which were subsequently awarded the Jomo Kenyatta Prize for Literature.
Early life
Political imprisonment and writing Edit
When the Kenyan Government of Jomo Kenyatta conducted a crackdown on KPU activists, Abdalla was imprisoned for conspiracy between 1969 and 1972. He was at first held in Kamiti Prison, and later in Shimo la Tewa Prison, where he was kept in solitary confinement. It was while imprisoned that he wrote the poems that would be collected in the 1973 work Sauti ya Dhiki. These were written in the Mombasa version of the Swahili language.[1] He later explained that writing the poems in solitary confinement had kept him sane.[2]
After he was awarded the Jomo Kenyatta Prize for Literature for Sauti ya Dhiki in 1972, he moved in exile to Tanzania. While there he worked as a senior researcher on Swahili at the University of Dar es Salaam and collaborated editing a Swahili dictionary. In 1979, he moved to London and worked for BBC Swahili department, later editing the news magazine Africa Events. Abdalla's only English language poem was published in 1988, entitled Peace, Love and Unity for Whom?. This was in response to an attempt by Daniel arap Moi's government to bribe Abdalla into no longer working with Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o. Abdalla has since taught Swahili at Leipzig University.
